The background. My wife (pregnant) and I were moving out of our rental at the end of the month, and we were looking for a place to move in almost immediately. We had the option of staying at family or friends, but wanted to avoid too many disruptions, or having to move twice and live out of boxes (so to speak). We also had fairly specific criteria - garden, secure parking - and all within budget. We had viewed a few places within that week, but all fell short of ideal. I received a recommendation to contact Lew Norgarb from a colleague and friend of mine who bought from Lew years back. Serendipitously though, Lew contacted me first, having showed interest in one or two houses on Property24 (P24).
The viewing(s). Although we had showed interest in specific houses on P24, Lew and Vanessa kindly showed us all the houses he had within our price range. More importantly, houses that were not even listed yet on P24. We met at the Norgarb offices one Friday afternoon, and he drove us to each specific house. The trip also gave us a sense of the Harfield Village community - what it is to live there. One house in particular (the last house we were shown) which was not yet listed and had its first showing planned for the upcoming Sunday, caught our eye and met all our criteria. We had a couple of other viewings that same afternoon with another agency, but found ourselves comparing it to the last house Lew showed us.
The offer. We contacted Lew late Friday afternoon to put in an offer, and he helped us complete the paper work late into the early evening. Lew could've easily say come back on Monday, after the first showing - and we will always be grateful for that Friday.
Getting it done. From that Friday, it took us exactly 15 working days to move into the new house (which may be a record). Lew understood our circumstance and needs, and facilitated the process with the seller. We also had some issues with the bank to sort out, but even then, Lew and Vanessa were patient with us. Norgarb Properties also partner with lawyers from STBB, which made the process smoother. Being our first purchase, Lew and Vanessa also guided us through each step and always kept us informed and up to speed.
